Emily A. Callahan serves as the Director of Policy Strategy for the Food is Medicine Institute at Tufts University. In this role she helps plan and execute a strategic vision for informing and driving federal policy change to advance food is medicine, increase federal investment in nutrition research, and promote nutrition security.
Emily has worked with a broad array of national health and science non-profits and academic institutions to translate scientific research into policy and systems changes that improve population health. She also has broad experience as a consultant science writer and editor. Emily earned an MPH from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BS in Dietetics (summa cum laude) from Miami University in Ohio, and has been credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist since 2008. Emily resides in the Washington, DC metro area with her husband and their four children.
