Lindsey Smith Taillie

Lindsey Smith Taillie is a nutrition epidemiologist whose work focuses on designing and evaluating food policies to support healthier, more sustainable, and more equitable diets across the globe. Dr. Taillie is a professor of nutrition at UNC Chapel Hill and co-director of the Global Food Research Program.

In addition to US-based research, she co-leads a large multi-country project to inform and evaluate an array of healthy food policies around the world, with a major focus in Latin America, as well as in Asia and Africa. Policies she has worked on include front-of-package labeling, food marketing, taxes on sugary drinks and ultraprocessed foods, food assistance programs, and policies on school food environments.
